Using radiant energy to charge a battery has great benefits:

  • The battery’s capacity is not degraded by each charge, and can increase;
  • Sulphated batteries can be restored;
  • Radiant charging devices generally use less electric power than a conventional battery charger;
  • One battery can charge one or more similar batteries;
  • You can build your own radiant charging device;

…or, you can buy a Renaissance Charge charger that uses this technology, and just plug it in.

Our Bedini SSG, now using a 22.5 inch wheel with 28 magnets

The easiest DIY way into really understanding this technology is to build a Bedini SSG (simplified school girl) motor (see previous post here). This is quite a simple project, involving some basic building and some very simple electronics. Inventor John Bedini has ensured that all the information and support required to do this is available for free at a Yahoo group, which you can find right here. If you join the group (free), you will be sent all the information you need to begin building your SSG. The group itself is a huge support and resource as you learn about your new machine (and you won’t stop learning).

The motor can be built at almost any size, using anything from a skate wheel to a large bicycle wheel as a rotor. The building, running, tuning and refinement of the SSG is a fascinating project, and, unlike most electronics projects, opens up a new and extraordinary realm of ecological energy solutions. It can also be upgraded and added to, allowing more powerful charging and greater use of the machine’s mechanical output.

A Renaissance Charge battery charger

Renaissance Charge are the only company in the world using John Bedini’s unique knowledge to produce a range of chargers, solar controllers and motor kits that rejuvenate and restore almost any battery.

If you already have solar panels, you can replace the usual solar charge controller with a Renaissance Charge solar controller, which will not only increase the amount of charging you get from your existing panels but also constantly rejuvenate your batteries, dramatically lengthening their life.

They even supply a plug-in electric vehicle charger, which has the unique benefit of increasing the range with every charge. Note that, without this technology, the electric car revolution will leave us swamped in dead, expensive batteries. It is not unusual to lose up to 50% of the range of the car in the first couple of years, due to the degrading of the batteries. Replacing the batteries costs several thousand pounds.

Renaissance Charge also make and sell motor kits, like the SSG and its various big sisters, offering a well machined collection of parts and components to assemble into a motor/generator yourself. Dedicated internet forums also offer extensive support for these devices. If you wish to go this route, it has been highly recommended, by those who know, that you build and learn a basic SSG first. Although I’ve not built a larger device, our own experience with the unique characteristics of the SSG would suggest that this is true!
